Three Racing Car Drivers Who Love Playing Poker
March 12th, 2019 by admin

Racing car drivers live on the edge by overtaking at high speeds and narrowly avoiding collisions, and off the racetrack they often try to reproduce that same rush of adrenaline. It should therefore be unsurprising that many drivers play poker in their spare time to simulate the thrill they get from racing.

To many, Michael Schumacher is the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time with a staggering seven world championships to his name. But the German racer also has a great love of poker, regularly pitting his wits against other drivers from the Formula 1 paddock and playing in charity tournaments. And while Giancarlo Fisichella never rivaled the great Schumacher on the track – his best finish in the world championship was fourth in 2006 – the Italian has the honor of becoming the first Formula 1 driver to be signed by a professional poker team. In honing his skills, Fisichella has stressed the importance of practicing using live dealer casino games. And while playing Texas hold ’em online is the game of choice for Fisichella and many other players, there are many other games to try such as Caribbean Stud.

Another keen poker player is NASCAR driver, Jason White. The former Camping World Truck Series driver entered the no-limit hold ’em main event at the World Series of Poker in 2014, and remarkably managed to finish ahead of thousands of other competitors including poker icon Phil Ivey, World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Michael Binger, and UK professional John Eames. White finished 348th out of 6,683 players and took home $33,734, not bad for a few days away from the racetrack. One quick-witted observer quipped that it was more than he could have earned racing trucks. Perhaps White might consider a change of profession after his big win.
